Whilst India is making her transition from regional power to global power, the requisite need to enhance the defence prowess is inherent in order to make this realization come fore and that too without much delay. India has been spending a generous 40% of budget on capital acquisitions out of which the 60% of requirements in the defence procurements are met by imports. Opening the segment to private organization, India will witness availability of cutting edge technologies with the foray of international leaders in the said segment.
INR 250 Billion are envisaged to be invested in coming 5-8 years to make India a manufacturing hub for defence procurement and to encourage the simultaneous research and development to maintain the edge over the global counterparts.
The aforementioned Round Table Conference aims to bring forth the current issues pertaining the defence manufacturing and acquisition while analyzing the various strategies, technological capabilities and potential considerations for implementing, developing and cementing the Make in India dream to objectify the plans charted out for self reliance in defence segment.
